Unload once, then ride all weekend

Most riding trips in the Arkansas Ozarks mean loading up every morning, driving to a trailhead and sharing the trail. At Bearly Earth, you unload at the cabin and ride straight onto your own private trail system. There are 15+ miles of trails winding across 70 acres, from the open ridge by the house down into creek bottoms and along the sandstone bluffs.

Riders keep telling us the same thing. “We came to ride side-by-sides and were able to find MILES of trails from the house.” “We truly could have never left the cabin. A weekend was not long enough to enjoy everything.”

What the trails are like

Expect real Ozark terrain: rocky two-track, roots and ledges, gravel creek bars, shallow creek crossings and some short steep climbs. The views open up on the ridges, and the hollows are shaded by hardwood forest. Some sections are relaxed enough for a family cruise. Others reward experienced drivers with good clearance. After heavy rain, the creek crossings run higher and the clay gets slick, so judge conditions before you go.

Built for riding groups

  • Trailer parking and a big gravel staging pad beside the house. One group fit three trucks with trailers and said there was room for more.
  • Room for three families. The cabin sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms with 3 full baths, so the whole crew can stay under one roof.
  • Back by the fire. Rinse off, grill on the deck and swap stories at the fire pit while the sun goes down over the valley.

Riding beyond the property line

Bearly Earth borders the Ozark National Forest, and some forest roads in the area are open to OHVs. The rules matter: on national forest land, OHVs may only use the roads and trails shown as open to your vehicle class on the current Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM). Cross-country travel is not allowed. Check posted closures, width limits and Arkansas road-use laws before you leave the property.

If you want a designated OHV system for a day trip, Moccasin Gap off Highway 7 is about 40 minutes south. Parts of its multi-use loops are open to OHVs with a $3 Forest Service trail pass. Farther afield, Brock Creek and Mill Creek are other established Ozark National Forest OHV areas.

Ride smart

  • Wear helmets and eye protection, and keep passengers within your machine's rated capacity.
  • Bring a basic recovery kit, a tire plug kit and plenty of water. This is remote country.
  • Ride at your own risk and within your experience, and keep kids on age-appropriate machines.
  • Throttle down near the house in the early morning and evening, when the wildlife comes out.

Every season

Snow runs in January, gold leaves in November

The trails don't close for the season. Winter brings fresh snow on the two-track, fall turns the hardwoods gold, and spring rain fills the creek crossings. These photos and videos are all from the property.
