Great room & kitchen
Gather around the stone fireplace
The heart of Bearly Earth is a great room with vaulted knotty-pine ceilings, an open loft and a floor-to-ceiling stone wood-burning fireplace. Your hosts usually have the first fire built and ready to light. There are deep sofas for the whole group, and big windows look out at the gardens and ridges.
The open chef-ready kitchen has a gas stove, Whirlpool oven, dishwasher, LG refrigerator and a Keurig coffee station. Guests say the cooking basics, spices, foil and coffee filters are already stocked, so you only need to bring groceries. Breakfast eggs might come straight from the henhouse.
Bedrooms for three families
Four bedrooms and seven beds sleep up to ten. The primary suite has bay windows, a walk-in closet and a bath with a jetted tub and double vanity. The red plaid bedroom and the mountain-view bedroom are cozy guest rooms, and a quiet room with a desk doubles as a remote-work office. Three full bathrooms keep mornings moving.
Kids get their own world: a bunk room and playroom stocked with toys, books and games, plus a reading nook in the bay window. Parents say the kids didn't want to leave.

Porch & patio
The wrap-around porch steals the show
A massive wrap-around porch circles the cabin with rockers, a glider, a porch swing and a hammock. You get sunrise on one side and sunset on the other, and on foggy mornings the valley view looks like the Smoky Mountains. Step down to the paver patio for outdoor dining, the gas grill and the fire pit with an Adirondack circle. Beyond it, the garden maze, the arbor and the lawn stretch out toward the ridges.
The hummingbirds, the rooster weathervane and the song birds are all part of the deal. Bring a blanket to the lawn after dark for some of the best stargazing in Newton County.
Four seasons on the ridge
The same porch, a different view every month
Crape myrtle and green lawns in summer, gold ridges in fall, snow on the Adirondack chairs in winter. The sunsets are good in every one of them.
Porch visitors
Hummingbirds work the porch feeder all summer long.
